Chinguacousy Concert Band: Brampton’s Next Generation Community Band
“PEOPLE PLUS MUSIC” is the motto of the CCB. No pressure, no worries, no egos … just a bunch of talented people meeting each week to perform music they enjoy. If you’re looking for a concert band where the players are the leaders, the CCB will provide you with an opportunity to expand your musical goals. This is the fun place to play music in Brampton!
MUSICAL DIRECTOR
Eric Mertinz
Eric grew up in Brampton and attended McMaster University receiving an Honours Bachelor of Music. Specializations during musical studies were advanced theory, and beginning instrumental techniques on all wind instruments.
Eric attended Queen’s University in 2011 to further his studies and received his Bachelor of Education degree.
Eric has been teaching private trumpet lessons at Long and McQuade since 2011. He has taught students ranging from their first lesson, to students auditioning for University programs. From 2012-2013 Eric taught at St. Robert Catholic Secondary school where he directed band from level 100 through 400 as well as choirs and a string orchestra. Since 2013 Eric has been teaching grade 7 and 8 instrumental music with the Toronto catholic district school board. His students come in with no experience and under Eric’s guidance they create music together.
Eric states: “I am thrilled to be leading this vibrant group of musicians. I am looking forward to a new Chinguacousy Concert Band. Our sound is going to be made up of new musical colours and textures and our audience is sure to enjoy what we have in store. “
