To my friends and colleagues in the music world,
I'd like to extend to each of you a very special invitation to join with me in being a part of Brampton's Next Generation Community Band... the Chinguacousy Concert Band.
Six years ago we made the difficult decision to put the Concert Band into hibernation and instead concentrated our efforts on the sister jazz/stage band, which is now known as the Chinguacousy Swing Orchestra. We learned a few things along the way; primarily that success within a community band isn't measured by music, but rather the people who play it. As you probably know, today the CSO is enjoying not only musical triumph, but has one of the greatest and friendliest groups of people you could ever want to play with.
It is with this motto, "People Plus Music", that I would like to invite you to be a part of the "new" Chinguacousy Concert Band. Let's all get together and do something we really enjoy - performing music - in an environment that we all have a contribution to. As the recent press release mentions, "No pressure, no worries... just a bunch of talented people who enjoy coming together to perform their music." I personally believe that it couldn't be simpler or better.
The CCB will resume rehearsals on Wednesday, February 4th and continues every Wednesday following that, at our facilities in the Brampton Civic Centre (across from Bramalea City Centre Mall). We've done an extensive search and came up with a fabulous conductor, Doug Manning, who is as much educated as he is simply a fun guy to work with. (His biography is posted on our website
here).
"
Brampton, come and Play with us!" I'd love to see you and your friends come out and have some fun, and join in the latest phase of community music evolution. If you have any questions please feel free to drop me a line at
chinguacousy@sympatico.ca, call at 905-455-1917, or simply show up at 7:30pm on February 4th.
Best regards,
Al Bourke
President,
